Can you introduce yourself ?
“My name is Alan Flejo. I joined GL events in October 2022 as Coordination Manager on the energy contract for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, in partnership with Loxam. I quickly progressed into several key roles, including Head of Design & Works (Electrical & HVAC) for the International Broadcast Center, and later overseeing high-voltage electrical installations across 40 sites. Since April 2025, I have been serving as Technical Director for the electrical division on the Asian Games 2026 project in Japan.”
How has internal mobility contributed to your professional development ?
“This mobility has given me a truly unique experience. Being part of a project as intense as the Olympic Games allowed me to achieve, in just a few years, more than I had in the previous ten. I had the opportunity to work alongside inspiring experts, develop advanced technical skills, and share my own expertise. In the events industry, I rediscovered that collective energy and shared sense of challenge that give real meaning to the work. This journey naturally prepared me for my current role as Technical Director, in line with my growth and my interest in complex, high-impact projects - both technically and from a human perspective.”
Can you share a key experience or moment from your internal mobility that had an impact on your career?
“During my first meetings with the Japanese client AINAGOC, I was struck by how smooth the exchanges were, despite the geographical and cultural distance. But I quickly realized that a Japanese client doesn’t operate in the same way as a French one - we needed to adapt our communication style to build a relationship of trust. Thanks to a training course offered by HR on Japanese cultural specificities, I was able to better understand their expectations and adjust my approach. This experience left a strong impression on me, as it highlights how essential listening, adaptability, and cultural awareness are for succeeding internationally.”
What advice would you give to those considering internal mobility ?
“Taking on a mobility opportunity can feel intimidating, but it’s often an incredibly enriching human and professional experience. During the Olympic Games, many colleagues stepped away from their usual roles to provide support, sometimes with some hesitation. They came back proud, having grown, and with a real sense of accomplishment. My advice : don’t be afraid to give it a try. Step out of your comfort zone, get involved, and bring your energy. Even far from home, you discover new strengths - both in yourself and in others. The events industry is, above all, a collective adventure, and it’s together that we make it a success.”
